Your programme for Ypres and Wevelgem!

24 March 2022

For two years now we have been looking forward to welcoming back fans to Gent-Wevelgem. On Sunday we finally get to again and for the very first time at the Grand Place in Ypres for the start presentations. We are ready for an amazing race day on March 27. Find out what there is to do at Gent-Wevelgem here!

What's on the program for the pros?

Starting at 9.20 am, Linde Merckpoel, Tom Vandenbulcke and DJ Voltage will kick off the race day from the Grote Markt in Ypres during the start presentations of the Men Elite. After the men take off at 10:50 am under the Menin Gate, we get ready for the start presentations of the women. Want to encourage Lotte Kopecky just before she gets ready in her click pedals under the Menin Gate? That's possible too at 12:20 on the Grote Markt with Linde, Tom & DJ Voltage.

Don't want to miss the start of the women's race? Be on the front row when the start takes place at 13:50 under the Menin Gate.

The peloton will be riding in Flanders Fields all day. Are you staying in Ypres? Then you can cheer on your favorites a few times from the Grand Place. Cheer Wout van Aert forward around 4.20 pm, and put your hands in the air for Lotte Kopecky who will pass by around 5.20 pm. In between, you don't have to miss anything of the race, because everything can be followed on a big screen.

What's on the program for the youth?

Affiliated with a fan club of a young favorite rider? Then we have good news. Because the youth races of Gent-Wevelgem can also take place again. After two years of absence, the riders will be back at the start of Gent-Wevelgem at 8.30 am. The youth will ride 5 races in and around Ypres on Sunday, March 27. They start at 8.30 am. To the finish in Wevelgem!

Shouting your favorites to victory at the finish after the start in Ypres? You can. There's also a lot going on in Wevelgem during the races. Fans can warm up their voices from 10.30 a.m. onwards in the fan zone at the finish, where a DJ will be ready to officially kick off the day. The Saint-Velo cafĂ© on the Guldenbergplein will also be open at that time for those who want to quench their first thirst. Additional entertainment is provided by the youngest participants of the day around 1 pm. Then you can enjoy a balance bike race for children from 2 to 5 years.

After a tour through Flanders Fields, the race will traditionally finish on the Vanackerestraat in Wevelgem. Will we witness decisive sprints or will the lonely breakaways arrive solo? At 5 pm you can find out in the Vanackerestraat who will succeed Wout Van Aert as winner of Gent-Wevelgem. Who among the women in Wevelgem can put their hands in the air can be seen more than an hour later at 6:15 pm. Not missing a second of the races in Flanders Fields? You can follow both races and the podium ceremonies on a big screen in the fan zone at the finish.

Ready for a great cycling classic? We certainly are. See you in Ypres or Wevelgem!
